Luxury Handbags Third Birthday - Red Carpet Social Media Bash & Charity Fundraiser.
It's always great to see the pictures out there in the world working hard for the client and for a good cause. In this case a charity auction fundraiser where $2800 was raised for the White Ribbon Foundation. This special birthday event was attended by social media celebrities as well as VIP shoppers to help celebrate the third year of the Town Hall Sydney luxury goods store of REEBONZ Australia. If you are wondering about the quality of the image I supply after an event like this; well here it is you are looking at a selection as supplied to the client the very next day (and some on the night of the event). Curiously I have been told by a few of the bloggers and social media identities that their Red Carpet shot from the night is the best one ever! Well that's a very nice compliment for me but it's also a great to see those red carpet portraits doing their work online as intended. After all, that's what Unique Event Photography is all about.

5 Chefs Make the Sale for Italian Tomatoes at a very Special Event.
So how do you sell Italian tinned tomatoes to Australians? I must say I am pretty glad no one asked me because goodness knows what kind of lame idea I might have come up with! The Italian Trade Agency did however ask the right person and the solution they came up with was truly fabulous. A 5 Course Degustation Menu; with 5 of the best Italian chefs in Sydney. Now that's a great idea and a great way to market your produce to those picky Australians. And how does the message get out, blogs, articles, and of course, pictures! They better be as full flavoured as the food if you want to maximise your exposure. Great marketing, great photography, great success! Now there's some food for thought.

Making the Turn on the Runway of Fashion - Raffles International Showcase @ MBFWA 2016.
When I was just starting out in commercial photography I was, one day, given some sage advice by an American photographer I was assisting (probably while hanging out up in the offices of Cosmo or Cleo et.al. in Park Street..) I was told, "Don't shoot runway, it's not fashion, you will never became a fashion photographer if you do; and if you do do it, don't use your real name". The implication being that if you do use your real name you will forever be thought of as a runway photographer and not one who can shoot creative and clever editorial fashion..!! Well apart from a few well connected millennial slashies aside, I suspect this is still true; it is hard to be known by an editor for more than one thing even though a few do achieve it. And I actually have a bit of a bone to pick with runway shows anyway, all the pictures, all look the same! In fact the whole week comes to look the same, like a bit of a fashion blur.. so I tend to try and not to look too much at all.
Of course, just to be contradictory, here are some fashion shots, taken by me, at a runway show, #MBFWA2016. It's the Raffles International Showcase, which is the best-of-best of the graduates of Raffles Fashion Design College; and I have chosen to show the fashion as I feel it; and the emotion of the show, from the models perspective, at least I hope I have. "Making the Turn"? Well when you get to the top of the runway, you need to make the turn and go back down. These shots are all taken while the models are navigating this important moment, you need poise, you need to concentrate, and you need to look good! It's never as simple as people think. Congratulations to all involved, I loved the show, I loved the fashion and I really really loved the hair and make up, just fantastic! And here, very large, are my pictures! There's certainly been a trend against interesting and against excellence in photography, but I don't believe in trends like that and I don't believe a microsecond on Instagram; times 10 000 pairs of eyes is equal to a long stare, from someone captivated by an interesting image. Let's keep photography Unique.
